Nandi Hills: Nandi hills is, in my opinion, one of the most popular and most visited places around Bangalore, which is mainly because of its closeness to the city. A few years back, we, along with a friend, made an excursion to Nandi hills. We were just going for a small trip and were on our way to Lepakshi, a little town on the border of Andhra Pradesh (The details about which I will be sharing shortly). One of the best things to do is to set out early in the morning to see dawn. The weather can be very different depending on the specific season of your visit, it could be chilly or rainy or even both so pack your warmest clothes. Just a warning that on weekends a large number of tourists come to the hills and as a result there is always a huge traffic jam on the way up. This means that you might be stuck in a queue until the hill is opened for visitors in the morning. On the top of the hill, there are several things to see such as temples, Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace and Fort, Tipu Sultan‘s drop (a gruesome story) and much more. It is a very captivating place to wander. An encouraging activity to do after/before going to Nandi hills is to have breakfast at the Paratha company. That’s exactly what we did, and we had a great time. 2. Cubbon Park: Cubbon Park, or Sri. Chamarajendra Park as it is officially known, is a remarkable park located right in the middle of town in the Central Administrative Area. The Vidhana Soudha – the State Legislature building, the High Court building – the Attara Kacheri and many more organizations within or around the park which make up the Central Administrative Area are all located near the park, which is the nature-friendly green space surrounding them. Cubbon Park comes first in the list of historical parks and it has more than a hundred years of history. The park was set up in the year 1870 by Sri John Meade, who was the acting Commissioner of Mysore at that time. The park was designed on a colossal scale by the then Chief Engineer of the State, Major General Richard Sankey. The park was at first named “Meade’s Park” after Sri John Meade and later it was referred to as Cubbon Park. Since the very beginning, the park has seen development and improvement along with the addition of new structures and features. In 1927, the park was formally renamed “Sri. Chamarajendra Park” to mark the Silver Jubilee of Sri. Krishnaraja Wodeyar’s reign over Mysore State. 3. ISKCON Hare Krishna Hill is the name of the hillock that the temple rests on.
